DUA LIPA

An absolute power house of pop arrived in Leeds. Dua Lipa is in town, bringing the full force of her Future Nostalgia Tour, after a two year delay.

Everyone has been biting at the bit for this concert, and it did not disappoint at all. Following on from touring the States, Dua Lipa is on day three of her UK leg, and looked to be enjoying every minute of her home coming. Dua Lipa has gone from strength to strength, becoming a worldwide pop sensation, with two albums in the bag and hopefully many more to come.

With Griff supporting, the night starts on a high, a full arena bouncing before the main act arrives. As the quiet sets, the fans create their own amusement with a Mexican waves from floor to the top tier going around and around.

Dua Lipa dancers arrive on stage to visuals of their image on the large screen, it's clear all are a part of this ensemble and will share the spotlight tonight. With dancers lined up across the back of the stage is set and Dua pops out into the middle of them to screams of joy from fans ringing out across the arena. Kicking off with "Physical" the party has started, and the show is in full effect.

The set is full of fantastic visuals, with well choreographed routines, perfectly full filling everyone with as much dance and pop that can soak in.

Split into four acts, act one finishes on "Be The One" Dua vanishes and the dancers carry on, the music still beat and the stage falls dark. The screen lights with a neon sign "North Atlantic, Fresh Seafood & Cocktail" and suddenly we're a bar. Dancers roller skate onto the stage, working themselves across the outstanding platform as "IDGAF" plays out over our new surroundings. Suddenly the screen changes to a back drop of comic strip fashioned like a B movie, and then a giant lobster takes to the stage, and Dua Lipa is lit, sat with feet dangling over the sea singing "We're Good". Dua raises the party atmosphere joining dancers front of platform delivering "Good in Bed". She targeting a member of the audience, absolutely making her day, saying this song's for you, the screen flips to them fully going full fangirl then back to Dua and dancers. Dua vanishes into the sea, to return promptly with another adjustment to costume, a short break from the dance routines singing "Fever" with Angele joining in on the large screen in a video perfectly blended to the set, yet another excellent addition to this well crafted production. This is followed by "Boys will be Boys" and Dua gone again.

Suddenly a carnival vibe is now upon us, the beats with a tinge of caribbean drums, dancers shaking around stage, until they're front of platform. There's shift in music, a mash up of songs from other artists, a feel of dance off on the nightclub dance floor as dancers move to centre as the others stand to the side, until Dua Lipa arrives back and then the full club night kicks in with "Club Future Nostaligia" The bass shakes the arena to it's core everyone is up bouncing on their heels giving it their all. Three more songs pass, breaking us all into a sweat, before taking us into a bit more of a chill with "Cold Heart" with Elton John pre recorded video standing high on the screen as his parts of the song kick in.

The stage falls dark, lights which feel like a UFO drop from the sky with planets and stars slowly descending across the arena, sci fi vibe music booms out until the planets align, and Dua Lipa is levitating across the audience floating around the arena delivering the aptly titled "Levitating" before coming back down to earth. Dua delivers an encore of "Future Nostalgia, and "Don't Start Now". It's over, it was outstanding, everyday delayed was worth it in the end, as everyone leaves willing to do it again.

Throughout the concert Dua Lipa paid much thanks to all who have come, thanking them for holding on to tickets. With the thanks, assisted verse singalongs, and pointing out audience members, there's a real feeling of togetherness, truly a joy to attend. This show is so well crafted and perfectly executed. It was an absolute pleasure to see in an arena, as this would be perfect for a stadium housing ten times over. Dua Lipa has cemented herself as a dominating force within the pop world, I cannot wait to see what's next to come.
